April 4 - 12, Kohren-Sahlis (Germany)
Kohren-Sahlis became once again a meeting point for young people from the Kohrener Land region and the Italian partner region of Montottone. As part of the project “Youth in Wonderland”, the participants came together for a week to collaboratively develop a theatre piece and creatively explore themes such as identity, friendship, belonging, and solidarity.

Creative Work and Intercultural Learning
Under the guidance of experienced theatre, dance, and arts educators (Franziska and Marc Mascheck, Janna Schaar), the participants created their own vesion of Alice in Wonderland. The focus was not only on artistic expression, but also on intercultural exchange and shared learning. The project week concluded with a workshop performance, where initial results were presented to an audience.

Looking Ahead: Continuation in Montottone
However, the project is designed with sustainability in mind: in autumn 2026, the young people will meet again for a week in Montottone. There, the jointly developed theatre piece will be further refined and ultimately performed – marking a special highlight of this international collaboration.

Project Partners and Funding
The youth exchange was organized by Satellites e.V. and KulturGut Linda e.V., in cooperation with the Comune di Montottone. Project partners included the Salofé Film and Theatre School and TheatreFragile. The project was co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme, the German Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth within the framework of the Child and Youth Plan of the Federal Government, as well as the city of Frohburg. Special thanks go to the city of Frohburg and the municipality of Montottone for their support, particularly for providing the “Haus der Begegnung” and for their funding of local associations, which makes international projects like this possible in rural areas.
